Three of the best Christmas Markets

As the days become shorter and the weather turns colder it is quite likely that your thoughts have been drawn to the upcoming festive season, whether you like it or not!

For those who love Christmas and all that comes with it, visiting a Christmas market is a great way to become immersed in all things festive, and the magic that they seem to offer can also help to change the minds of those who may usually be counting down the days until it's over.

Many cities around Europe hold their own Christmas markets with plenty starting in the middle of November, giving you lots of time to plan a long weekend exploring a new city and all of its festive delights.

Here we look at what we believe are three of the best Christmas markets and hope that we inspire you to visit one yourself.

Prague - Czech Republic

With a square that boasts a name straight out of a Christmas carol, Prague is a stunning city which comes alive around Christmas with impressive decorations and a great range of stalls to browse, plus a visit to the castle is a must for an extra festive feel.

Vienna - Austria

Nowhere does Christmas tradition quite like Austria, and the market in Vienna has an ice rink as well as a variety of stalls so you can try your hand at gliding around before you warm up with a festive tipple. You're also likely to stumble across an angelic carol singer or two for added Christmas cheer.

Hamburg - Germany

Known for its impressive diversity, Hamburg offers 15 markets at Christmas time and has stalls selling everything from sweets and cakes to silver tree decorations and lovely leather items - perfect for getting your Christmas shopping done while you enjoy your break.

We hope that you feel inspired to head to one of the best Christmas markets around, and that you feel ready to get festive as we head towards December.
