Why You Should Visit Sicily

There are a whole range of gorgeous places to visit in Italy, but Sicily stands out for many people due to how picturesque and luxurious it looks.

We have put together some reasons for why you should visit Sicily, and we guarantee you'll be ordering brochures to book your trip there immediately.

Stunning beaches

Boasting a 1000 kilometre coastline, Sicily has a beach for everyone as they range from sandy to rocky. You will find that the beaches here are less crowded than elsewhere in Italy which means that they don't feel as touristy – perfect for a relaxing break.

One of the best ways to see Sicilian beaches is to rent a car and explore a number of the seafront towns where you are sure to find plenty of great photo opportunities, plus this destination offers fabulous weather for a lot of the year too!

Amazing seafood

Those who love seafood will not be disappointed by what Sicily has to offer, as you'll be spoilt for choice by the variety of fresh options that this holiday destination has to offer. Some of the most popular dishes and clams and sardines, but you'll also have to try their famous swordfish rolls.

If seafood isn't your thing, other specialties include arancini, which are stuffed rice balls, and granita, which is a semi-frozen dessert that is available in a whole variety of flavours.

Mount Etna

You can't take a trip to Sicily without checking out the fantastic Mount Etna, which is Europe's tallest active volcano and still erupts frequently. Located on the eastern side of Sicily it is definitely worth travelling to if you don't find yourself staying nearby.

You can choose to hike up this UNESCO Heritage Site, or take the slightly more relaxed cable car halfway up before you switch to a 4x4 bus as the journey up by foot can be pretty hard work!

These are just some of the reasons why you should visit Sicily, and there are loads more to discover as you look through some brochures and plan your trip there.
