Top Tips for Exploring Thailand

A lot of people have Thailand on their travel wish list, and with so much to discover it can be a trip that lasts just a couple of weeks or a couple of months depending on how much time you have available.

Here we share our top tips for exploring Thailand which we hope will help to make your journey even more enjoyable.

Allow enough time in each place

Before you head off to Thailand it is important to organise your time so that you know that you will be in each place for long enough to enjoy the different atmospheres that they offer.

Cities like Bangkok will differ so much from the he beaches that you will want time to absorb the pace of life and different activities in each place before you move on. You should also aim to have a list of things you definitely want to see so that you can prioritise when you get there.

Be sensible with street food

Most of the street food that you find in Thailand will be perfectly delicious, but it is worth aiming for the stalls which look popular as the quicker the turnover of food, the fresher it will be.

Always wash your hands before and after eating street food, and never drink tap water as it is not safe for consumption. The ice in hotels and restaurants should be absolutely fine but it is safest to stick to bottled water (or beer) while out and about.

Understand the etiquette

There are a few things to be wary of in Thailand which could show you to have poor etiquette and potentially insult the locals.

For example, avoid showing the soles of your feet, or pointing them at people, don't touch people on the head, and avoid eating directly off of your fork. You should also ensure that your elbows and knees are covered when visiting temples, wats, monasteries and palaces.

By following these top tips for exploring Thailand you can be sure that you will have a trip that is fun, organised, and safe.
