Three Must-See Attractions in Paris
Paris, the capital city of France, is just a short hop across the channel from England which makes it the perfect quick city break for those who want a weekend getaway.
However, there is so much to do in Paris that a couple of days may not be enough time to see it all, so here are the three must-see attractions in Paris that we don’t think you will want to miss.
The Eiffel Tower
Built between 1887 and 1889 to be the entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair, the Eiffel Tower stands at 324m metres which is the same height as an 81 storey building and is the most visited paid monument in the world.
There are three levels for visitors, the first and second levels boast restaurants and the third level is the highest observation deck in the EU and people can take in the view of Paris from an impressive 276 metres above ground level.
The Louvre Museum
Opened in 1793, the Louvre Museum is the most visited art museum in the world and welcomed 8.1 million guests in 2017 alone. With around 15,000 visitors each day, with 65% of these being foreign tourists, it is no wonder that this is one of the most popular attractions in Paris.
Housing around 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century, the Louvre Museum is housed in the Louvre palace which was originally built as a fortress, which makes it a historic monument as well as a museum, and is 72,735 square metres in size.
Notre Dame Cathedral
The Notre Dame Cathedral is considered to be one of the best examples of French Gothic architecture and was built in medieval times, but it still looks amazing today.
There is no entrance fee to enter Notre Dame but you will need to pay a small fee if you would like to visit the bell towers, which give you a fantastic view of the city, and don’t forget to pay extra attention to the stunning stained glass windows.
With so much to see in Paris we think you should definitely head there for a city break soon!
